New Nokia Feature Phones To Hit The Global Market In Early 2017

Nokia which is now partners with Finnish company HMD Global is planning to launch two new feature phones globally in the Q1 of 2017.

In a statement issued by HMD, a company representative said, "With a familiar user interface, the new devices respond to consumer demand for great quality, affordability and ease of use... The Nokia 150 and Nokia 150 dual SIM will be available at an estimated retail price of $26 before local taxes and subsidies."

The company spokesperson also added that the phones will become available globally in select markets, rolling out first in APAC, IMEA and Europe in the first quarter of 2017.

The devices will feature a 2.4-inch screen, FM radio and MP3 player and games like classic Snake Xenzia and Nitro Racing. The devices will have a 1020 mAh battery,a talk time for up to 22 hours and a stanby of 31 days.There is a VGA camera at the back of the phone with an LED flash. There is a separate LED Torchlight is also included.

The handsets will be be launched in India around the same time at a price less than Rs 2,000.

The company executives also added that India being one of the fastest growing smartphone markets globally, it will play a critical role in Nokia's "next phase of journey." Even though the feature phone market has been gradually decreasing in the country, it is still among the top receivers of smartphone shipment globally.

According to research firm IDC, smartphone shipments in India grew 11% to 32.3 million units in July-September quarter as compared to the same period last year.
