When Apple announced its two new smartphones in October this year, it even announced its wireless earphones called AirPods. Although the tech giant was supposed to start shipping the AirPods late October for some unknown reason there has been a delay in the shipping date. As per reports, the AirPods will start shipping only in January 2017.
This also means that Apple would be missing out on the festive Christmas season, when the shopping in countries like the US and the UK are at an all-time high. Although the real reason behind the delay is unknown, a week back, Apple had issued a statement about a delay saying, “The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.”
With the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack. The company does ship an adapter for 3.5mm headphone jack, it also introduced new wireless Airpods powered by a brand new W1 chip. Apple claims that AirPods will offer up to five hours of listening. Apple has also included its own charging case, which is smaller than the usual case for the wired EarPods. With the charging case, users will be able to get up to 24 hours listening time. You can charge both the case and the AirPods together via a Lightning charger.
A pair of the AirPods will cost Rs 15,400. The January shipping date is just a report. We will have to wait and see as to when is Apple actually planning to ship them.
