South Korean giant Samsung has launched its flagship phablet Galaxy Note 7 in India for Rs 59,900. Buyers will also receive a Reliance Jio 4G SIM with three months of 4G data for free.
The Galaxy Note 7 is the successor of the Galaxy Note 5. The company claims that this will minimize the confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung as well as provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 weighs 169 gram and measures 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm in dimensions. It sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD dual-edge SuperAmoled display of 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In India, the device comes with an octa-core Exynos processor clubbed with a 4GB RAM. The handset runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It comes with an in- built storage of 64GB which can be further expanded to 256GB capacity by a microSD card. Users will also receive 15GB of free cloud storage on Samsung Cloud. The phablet sports a 12MP dual-pixel rear-camera with Optical Image Stabilization, along with a 5MP front-facing shooter.
On the connectivity front, the device features 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C. The various sensors on-board include a barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor and RGB light sensor.
The Note 7 runs on a 3,500mAh battery and also sports fast-charging technology.
It will come in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx colour variants. There's also a Blue Coral variant although it will not be available in India.
For enhanced security, the phablet includes a fingerprint scanner, the company's Knox software clubbed with biometric authentication and an iris scanning feature. Additionally, it has a feature called 'Secure Folder,' which is a folder that can be used to keep confidential documents locked using biometrics.
Samsung claims that the S Pen or the Stylus is even more precise with 0.7mm diameter tip. According to Samsung, "With the peace of mind that IP68 water resistant provides, the Galaxy Note 7 S Pen lets users jot down their thoughts without interruption, even when the screen gets wet," said the company at the time of its global launch.
With the "Smart Select Option" the Stylus lets users create and share GIF animations. There are some new functions like Air Command, Magnify and Translate. These enable the user to zoom in or translate to different languages (71 languages, this includes 11 India languages). with a simple move of the Stylus. Samsung Notes can now be used to write notes, draw, or edit memos.
The Galaxy note 7 is already available for pre-order in the US but will be available in India only from September 2 on various e-commerce sites..
