With the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the South Korean giant Samsung is already making plans for the next flagship. If reports are to be believed, looks like Samsung is planning to drop the flat screen models for all the future Galaxy S series and replace them with curved screens.
In an interview, Samsung Mobile chief Dong-Jin Koh mentioned in the Korea Herald website, "Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions (for the curved screen)."
Now, if we understand that statement clearly, it means we can expect the next year's flagship to sport a curved screen on all four sides.
Up until now, Samsung has come up with the Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7 Edge and the latest Galaxy Note 7 Edge with curved-edge displays. While the first four were launched in two versions - flat-screen as well as curved display, the latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 7 is launched only with dual-curved display variant.
The Galaxy note 7 was out on the shelves from August 19. The device sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD dual-edge SuperAmoled display of 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phablet has a 12MP Dual Pixel rear-camera with Optical Image Stabilization, along with a 5MP front-facing shooter. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Based on different markets, the device will come with an octa-core Exynos 8890 processor or the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, both combined with 4GB RAM.
It comes with an internal storage of 64GB which can be further expanded by microSD cards of up to 256GB. Users will also get complimentary 15GB of cloud storage on Samsung Cloud.
One of the focus points of the new flagship is that it includes an Iris Scanner.
The Galaxy Note 7 is available in arrive in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx colour variants.
