Leaving behind the success and failures of 2016, Samsung is now concentrating on its next flagship Galaxy S8. As per reports, Samsung is going to be trying out a pressure sensitive display for the first time in the Galaxy S8. This technique has been adopted by Apple for the iPhone 6S for quite sometime now. The only other Android devicees to sport such a display is Huawei Mate S and Meizu Pro 6s.
Force Touch Displays also known as Pressure Sensitive or 3D Touch technology would allow Samsung to offer additional options and features to users by allowing them to apply different amounts of pressure to the displays to perform various functions. For instance, app shortcuts changing or zoom option that zooms closer depending on how hard you press the display or even creating app short-cuts.
Speaking on this a senior executive in Samsung’s component division has confirmed that the company is working on force touch display technology for its future devices. The South Korean giant has made a number of large investments into research and manufacturing facilities for its display division this year.
An anonymous Samsung supplier added, “Samsung is mulling to adopt the force touch technology partially from the S8 but the full adoption will come in one or two years … It is a matter of time before other major Android smartphone makers deploy the technology that will help enhance user interface.”
Although the technology is not very new and already has been seen in a few devices, there is always a possibility that Samsung would come up with something better and more interesting with it. It surely is something to look forward to.
