With the release date of the new Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S8 closing in, the South Korean mobile manufacturer would be under a lot of pressure especially after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Already, a lot of rumors related to the specs and features of the S8 are making rounds. Just recently it was rumored that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with 6GB of RAM. Now, it’s being rumored that Samsung is going to improve the front camera on the next flagship by adding autofocus.
Reportedly, Samsung has filed an application for a new term called “Smart AF”, which reveals that the trademark will be associated with every product from mobile phones, smartphones and tablet computers.
Rumors about the details and features of the smartphone have been doing the rounds of internet for quite some time. The Galaxy S8 is expected to feature a major redesign with bezel-less display with 4K resolution. Some rumors also indicate that the smartphone could come with pressure-sensitive display, something like the new Apple iPhones. The Galaxy S8 may be loaded with stereo speakers with US audio company HARMAN branding. Earlier, a Samsung representative had confirmed that its Galaxy series smartphones will use HARMAN’s technology but not before 2018, so the above report cannot be fully believed.
The Galaxy S8 is reportedly said to be available in two size variants - 5.5-inch Edge model and 6.2-inch display phablet with a bezel-less design. Both the variants will have a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection with a special optical fingerprint sensor layer instead of a physical home button. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to be one of the first smartphones to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset.
We also heard Samsung is dropping the idea of a dual-camera setup in favor of a high-end single snapper with top specs. It is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. As mentioned earlier, the front camera would have an auto-focus feature.
Leaks in the past have also suggested that it will come with support for Quick Charging 4.0 that will offer up to five hours of usage or more with just five minutes of charging. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be powered with a 4,200mAh battery and will continue on the wireless charging feature. For connectivity, the Galaxy S8 could come with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port. The Galaxy S8 could most likely run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. More features for the Galaxy S8 include a fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner, heat rate sensor, water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy S8 is expected ot be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, 2017 and could hit the shelves by April 2017.
