Rumors surrounding Xaomi's upcoming smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5c, codenamed Xiaomi Meri, have been making rounds for quite sometime now. Earlier. there were reports of the phone being launched on November 30. However, that did not happen. Now, there's another report suggesting that the device will be launched on December 6 in China.
A post put up by Xiaomi on Weibo says that the device will be launched on December 6 and three images of the Mi 5c have also been posted.
The alleged Mi 5c is seen sporting a black color with what is assumed to be a 2.5D glass display. The selfie camera lens is located above the display and the rear camera lens of the Mi 5c is located on the top left corner with the Mi logo embedded down below. The Home button which would also double as a fingerprint scanner is located at the bottom of the device.
The “About Phone” section of the Mi 5c reveals some key specs of the smartphone. The alleged Xiaomi Mi 5c will be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor but the chipset is not known yet. Another report suggests that Xiaomi Mi 5c's chipset would be the company's own Pinecone processor. If this actually happens then, the Mi 5c will be the first smartphone to be powered by a Pinecone chipset.
The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. On the software front, the Mi 5c runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. Up until now, the Mi 5c has been flooded with rumors and there are reports which suggest that the smartphone would be launched in two variants of 5.2-inch full HD display and 5.5-inch display. Other than that, the Mi 5c has been rumored to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front. For connectivity, the Mi 5c will come with NFC support. The smartphone is also said to be available in two colors - black and rose gold.
Now comes the pricing speculations. Reports say that the device may be priced at RMB 999 (Rs 9,900). Whereas other reports suggest the Mi 5c would be priced at Rs RMB 1,499 (Rs 14,800)
Remember that all this information is based on reports and leaks, so how much of it will actually be true is a big question. everything will be clear in December during the actual launch event.
